—A Moment Is Enough marks filmmaker William Jacobs’s first project captured on 16mm film. It is an excerpt of a greater story entitled Poet in a Modern World which follows two artists—young and old—choosing Beauty in a world defying it. The short film focuses on the young filmmaker who conjures a past muse with his imagination during a melancholy winter day. Vacillating between upholding certain ideals and compromising them to end his friction with modernity, a bittersweet truth eventually emerges from his fantasy.
“This is why I’ve remained in the Midwest and will not trade little money, limited resources, and a small crew for the decadence and lifelessness of the mainstream film industry. Here in this stifling and cramped room I am experiencing what cinema really is: an edifying expedition into time.”
